Get Rochdale Reading Week- 21st to 26th November

Hi everyone, we have a great week packed full of events put on by the Wheatsheaf library starting today. It's all thanks to the Maskew bequest and organised by Suzi Heslan.
Tonight kicks off the fantastic line up with, as you might imagine, a pub crawl! Meeting in the library at 4.45pm and meandering over to Bar 5 at 5pm, where Norm and Robin of Just Poets and Lancashire dialect specialist Sid Calderbank will be on hand to help you create your own dialect limerick. This will run till 6.30pm, and then we crawl over to The Baum at 7pm for the chance to perform your limerick. There will be readings of original dialect poetry from The Edwin Waugh Society with the accompaniment of folk musician Mark Dowding. Advertised finish time 10pm, we will see. Hope to see you there.

On Tuesday from 3-4pm there is a chance to see the wonderful Hip-Hop Shakespeare company, Shakespeare, the rapper, as you've never heard him!

On Wednesday there is a chance to hear professional story teller Susanna Oldfield telling Tales for Grown Ups. from 2-3pm there is a workshop to help you create a story and from 4-5pm there is a spellbinding story telling performance of folk tales from around the world.

On Thursday from 3.30-4.30pm we have a fascinating talk from Dr Jay Kennedy of the University of Manchester on the legendary philosopher Plato and the existence of the long disputed 'Plato Code'. Dr Kennedy believes he has thrown a new light on the origins of science, mathematics, music and philosophy.
